Gary Anderson is one of the most successful players in the history of the PDC.

He’s captured nine major titles throughout his illustrious career, including two World Championships.

Despite his success, he has reached 25 major finals and could have had many more trophies on his résumé.

Legendary referee Russ Bray has officiated the biggest matches for nearly three decades and has had a front row seat to many epic battles.

Speaking to PDC Europe on TikTok, Bray revealed which player he thinks stopped Anderson from pocketing more trophies.

Adrian Lewis halted further Gary Anderson success says Bray

The mid-2010s was a brutal time at the top of darts with Anderson, Michael van Gerwen and Phil Taylor all battling for the sport’s top prizes.

Double World Champion Adrian Lewis was in his pomp in this era and Bray believes ‘Jackpot’ cost Anderson more silverware.

He said: “Yes I definitely think Gary would’ve done that [won more major titles without Lewis].

“Adrian beat him in a World final as well so obviously he’s a back-to-back World Champion so yeah, I would say definitely.”

Though ‘The Flying Scotsman’ would have hoped for more big titles, his current form suggests he could add to his tally still.

Adrian Lewis will be hoping to cause more upsets amid comeback

Last month, Lewis shocked fans by announcing his sensational return to darts after taking a sabbatical last year.

Though he ruled out Q-School for 2025, he has teased a potential World Championship return this year.

The 39-year-old will be desperate to rediscover his form of yesteryear and compete with the big boys once again.

In his prime, the Stoke-on-Trent native was amongst the very best in the world and fans will hope his return signifies the renaissance of Adrian ‘Jackpot’ Lewis.
