Peter Wright turned around his dire form in the first half of 2024 and captured the German Darts Championships.

Snakebite defeated Luke Littler 8-5 in the final to win his first tournament of the year and put his form struggles behind him.

The 54-year-old continued his momentum by reaching the semi-finals of the World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam and looks to be back to his best form.

Matthew Edgar has praised Wright for his reaction to his poor form and declared his faith in his ability ‘inspirational’.

Matthew Edgar praises Peter Wright’s self-belief

While many fans and critics called for Wright to retire, the former World Champion stuck to his guns and worked out of his poor form.

Darts player and broadcaster Edgar has commended Wright for his determination.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Edgar said: “It doesn’t matter he wasn’t getting those results, it doesn’t matter what the pundits were saying or what the fans were saying Peter Wright was still doing interviews suggesting he was going to win.

“He didn’t follow the story that he’s passed his best and that is inspirational because there’s one person who needs to believe that you’re going to win something and that’s you.

“Peter Wright never lost his faith, he always had faith in his ability and always knew he was going to turn it around so that is the big part of this story.”

Wright currently sits at number 11 in the PDC World Rankings.

Wright blasts critics for retirement jibes

After his victories over Dave Chisnall and Jeff Smith in Amsterdam, Wright sent a message to his doubters over his poor form in 2024.

Speaking to Online Darts, he said: “People writing me off, going ‘maybe he should be going on the senior’s tour’ or ‘he’s absolute rubbish’ and stuff.

“In my mind, no, I’m not finished with these lot. I can still upset Luke Littler, Luke Humpries, and Michael van Gerwen.

“I know I can still upset them if I want to on my day so if it’s my day I’ll take home the trophy, not them”.

This is not the first time Snakebite has taken a swipe at Littler, with Peter Wright taking a dig at Luke Littler at the World Series.

Despite being called inspirational by Edgar, it’s clear that the taunts from fans and critics have affected Wright during his run of poor form.
