Luke Humphries has had one of the best years in the history of the PDC.
Cool Hand holds more major titles than he doesn’t at the moment, having won every single Sky Sports major apart from the Premier League, while he’s also won the Players Championship Finals.
Of course, the 29-year-old’s crowning achievement is his win in both the World Championships and the World Matchplay, becoming only the second player ever after Phil Taylor to complete that double-header in the same year.
Speaking to ITV, Humphries has been discussing his incredible achievements, and he says that he doesn’t think he’ll ever be able to win the World Matchplay and the World Championships in the same year again.

Luke Humphries makes World Championship and World Matchplay admission
The World Champion spoke about his achievements this year.
“You don’t expect to go on and achieve so much in such a short period of time. I’ve now achieved the two big ones with the Worlds and the Matchplay,” Humphries said.
“It’s something that I will probably never be able to match again, but you know just to win them and then never have to worry about winning them again in the future.”
Luke Humphries has competition
Humphries says that he may not be able to complete this double-header again, and he may not be wrong.
Cool Hand, quite simply, may have too much competition at the top level.
Michael van Gerwen hasn’t been at his best in recent times, but he’s still an incredibly dangerous player.
Meanwhile, at the age of just 17, Luke Littler is still improving, even though The Nuke is already the complete package.
There’s a reason only two players have ever managed this feat, and it would take a mammoth effort for Humphries to repeat this trick.
The World Cup winner is arguably the best player in the world, and if there’s anyone in the PDC who can repeat this trick, it’s Humphries.
