The European Championships has offered plenty of surprises as many of darts lesser-known players have slayed the top seeds.

Luke Littler crashed out in the first round to Andrew Gilding, while World No. 1 Luke Humphries suffered defeat to World No. 40 Jermain Wattimena at the quarterfinal stages.

After Mike De Decker’s surprising World Grand Prix win, darts have become an increasingly unpredictable beast once again.

Fans have taken to social media to share their surprise at the events in Dortmund.

Darts fans react to ‘unpredictable’ European Championship

Darts fans have been loving the unpredictability of the German event and have taken to social media to share their delight.

On X, one fan wrote: “The best European Championship ever! What a semi-final lineup so far”, while another said: “Crazy European Championship!”

Another fan wrote: “This is an unreal tournament. Don’t care who wins it now it’s been total chaos all throughout” and one said: “The European Championship is the tournament of dreams!”.

The European Championship semi-finals consist of Luke Woodhouse vs Ritchie Edhouse and Jermaine Wattimena vs Danny Noppert.

Only one major winner in the European Championships final four

It’s a testament to the unpredictability of the European Championships that Danny Noppert is the highest-ranked player left in the tournament at World No. 15.

Noppert is the only player in the final four to have won a major – the UK Open in 2022 – and the other competitors started the tournament outside of the top 32.

After De Decker’s win at the World Grand Prix and a brand-new major winner for 2024 in Dortmund, the Premier League line-up is going to be utterly fascinating.
