The race for the 2025 Premier League was one of the most hotly contested in darting history and fans were not happy that Damon Heta failed to make the cut.
The World No. 8 enjoyed his most successful year in 2024, reaching his first-ever major tournament semi-final at the UK Open.
The popular Aussie also hit a nine-darter at the World Darts Championship during his last 16 tie against Luke Woodhouse.
After fans were devastated by Damon Heta’s exclusion from one of the PDC’s premier tournaments, the 37-year-old cleared the air on social media.

Damon Heta ‘wasn’t expecting’ Premier League place
Despite fans desperately crying out for Damon Heta’s place in the tournament, the Aussie has revealed he never thought he would qualify for the tournament.
Taking to social media to share his thoughts, The Heat said: “As usual, there’s a lot of strong feelings surrounding the Premier League pickings.
“I wasn’t expecting to be picked in the Premier League and I know I wasn’t even in the talks with the board for it but I appreciate every single one of you who put me in their lineup and had faith I was going to be there.
“I didn’t move to England to play PL and I have been pretty open about that over the years. If it happens one day it happens but I’ll continue to work hard & what will be will be.”
Heta won two Pro Tour events in 2024 at the Players Championship 4 and 18 as he cracked the PDC top 10 for the first time.
Damon Heta claims three snubbed players deserve Premier League place
As well as not believing he was going to be offered a Premier League place, The Heat has also revealed there are three other players who deserve a spot in the tournament more than him.
When a fan told him he deserved a place in the tournament, Heta replied: “Not really, the three major winners who missed out deserve to be there.”
Those players are World Grand Prix winner Mike De Decker, UK Open champion Dimitri van Den Bergh, and European Champion Ritchie Edhouse.
After so many top players were snubbed from the event, fans have called for the PDC to set up a second tier of the Premier League.
Instead of travelling around the UK and Ireland for the Premier League, Heta will once again be competing at Euro Tour events.
