Fans call for Damon Heta’s Premier League inclusion
The World No. 9 has broken into the top ten of the PDC rankings in 2024 and reached the semi-final of the UK Open.
Heta was impressive in his second-round match against Connor Scutt and followed it up with a nine-darter against Luke Woodhouse.
After his act of perfection, fans are calling for the Aussie’s inclusion in the Premier League.
On X, one fan wrote: “If Damon Heta isn’t in the Premier League we’re rioting” while another said: “Regardless of the outcome of this match Damon Heta has just put himself into the Premier League.”
Another said: “That 9 darter has just made Damon Heta £60,000 and booked his place in the Premier League. Not bad for 60 seconds of work!”
Despite his nine-darter, Heta lost his third-round match to Woodhouse in a closely fought 4-3 match.
Who else should make it in the Premier League?
After a year of upsets and brand-new major winners, this year’s Premier League is the most wide open for years.
Luke Humphries, Luke Littler, and Michael van Gerwen are the only three names nailed on to appear at the illustrious touring tournament so far, with top-ranked players such as Peter Wright and Michael Smith struggling for form.
The likes of Dave Chisnall, Rob Cross, and Heta will all be hoping they’ve done enough to make it into the eight-person tournament, but they could be usurped by new major winners Ritchie Edhouse and Mike De Decker.
