Ritchie Edhouse shocked the world by claiming his first-ever major at the European Championship in Dortmund.

The 41-year-old defeated Gian Van Veen, Michael Smith, Gary Anderson, Luke Woodhouse, and Jermaine Wattimena on his way to announcing himself to the darting elite.

He joins Mike De Decker as a first-time major winner this year after his World Grand Prix triumph in October.

Edhouse has entered the top 32 for the first time in his career and is set to play the Grand Slam of Darts in November.

After a hectic schedule and the emotional carry-on of gaining his first major tournament, Edhouse has revealed whether he’ll appear at the Pro Tour this week.

Ritchie Edhouse is still set to play on the Pro Tour

After De Decker’s World Grand Prix triumph, the Belgian told the media that he made a mistake by making his way straight to the Pro Tour.

Asked if he’ll take that advice on board, Edhouse said: ” “I was going to pull out but my mate Lee Cox has just been put up from the challenge tour.

I’ll go with him and practice with him and see. What happens to me, happens to me. I’d just like to be there for him. I should pull out but no, I won’t.”

Edhouse had not progressed beyond the last 32 of a televised event prior to his exploits at the European Championship.

Edhouse is ‘hungry for more’ after European Championship win

Edhouse wants to use his remarkable European Championship win as a springboard to capture more top titles.

Speaking to PDC TV, the 41-year-old said: “This is unbelievable. I just wanted to get a couple of wins under my belt and see what happened, so this is a dream come true.

“I think this could be a stepping stone for me because confidence breeds confidence, and now I am really confident and hungry for more!”

The Basildon-born thrower climbed ten places to a career-high of 29th on the PDC Order of Merit after his victory.
