Phil Taylor impressed by Modus Super Series
16-time World Darts Champion Taylor is set to join Pluto TV’s coverage of the Modus Super Series and he’s praised the league for providing an alternative to the PDC.
Speaking to Online Darts about his new role and the league, Taylor said: “I’m pleasantly surprised, to be honest with you.
“I thought it would take longer than this. Jason and Pluto TV, they’re really pushing it. They’ve done brilliant, they’re working really hard on it promoting the sport all the time, it’s great.”
Taylor will make his debut with the company on the MODUS League of Legends Finals Night on January 25.
Phil Taylor turned down Sky Sports for MODUS
As one of the founding members of the corporation, Taylor is synonymous with the PDC but he revealed he turned down an offer from Sky Sports to cover their tournaments.
Taylor suggested the sheer vastness of the current PDC calendar made it impossible for The Power to join Sky Sports.
Speaking to The Daily Mirror, The Power said: “I couldn’t work on the Sky ones, there’s too many tournaments for me. That isn’t for me, I can’t be in hotels all the time. I enjoy my life at home too much.”
Taylor won 14 PDC World Darts Championships, with his last coming in 2013 when he defeated Michael van Gerwen in the final at Alexandra Palace.
