Peter Wright comfortably won his first-round tie against Daniel Snookes at the New Zealand Darts Masters.

Snakebite whitewashed the New Zealand debutant to secure his place in the quarterfinals and continue his impressive form Down Under.

Peter Wright reached the semi-finals at the Australian Darts Masters last time out and has been speaking about what makes him dangerous to the rest of the players on tour.

Peter Wright ‘can still win these tournaments’

Wright believes he’s starting to find form after a difficult time on tour and that makes him a risky player to come up against in tournaments.

Talking to Online Darts after his victory, Wright said: “I’ve definitely got lots, lots more to come.

“I can win games again. Which makes me a pretty dangerous wildcard in any tournament now. Instead of the favourites, I can still win these tournaments”

Wright is looking to pick up his first tournament win of the year in Hamilton.

Wright could end barren run in Hamilton

World No. 12 Wright is a genuine contender for the title in New Zealand.

Wright described his recent form as ‘pretty terrible’ recently, but now, the 54-year-old looks to be enjoying himself on stage again, as showcased with his 6-0 win on Friday.

He was unlucky to lose in a decider against eventual winner Gerwyn Price in the semi-finals in Australia and his run in Hamilton has got off to a dream start.
