Peter Wright is as famous for his collection of darts as he is for his hairstyle.
The Scotsman is renowned for changing his darts from match to match and is no stranger to changing his arrows mid-game.
This is in stark contrast to most players who often only opt to change darts out of necessity – either too much wear on their current set or switching manufacturers.
It is often debated whether this habit of Wright hinders his performances, and the scrutiny intensifies when his form dips.
Despite this, ‘Snakebite’ remains defiant about his tinkering and vows he will never change.

Peter Wright says you need to ‘take the risk’ changing darts
Darts is a game of fine margins, especially at the elite level and speaking to USA Darts, the two-time World Champion insists you must be a risk-taker to keep progressing.
“[I’m trying to find] that one or two per cent, that’s all it takes sometimes. If that helps you win that title or get to the final then that’s what you need.
“You’ve got to take the risk [of changing darts]. You never know you might just pick up this set of darts they made for you and they work fantastic, or they might not.”
Wright was disappointing at the recent US Darts Masters and endured a dismal Premier League campaign, but he will be hoping to find a successful set-up ahead of his defence of the Nordic Darts Masters later this week.
Switching darts is not the issue for Peter Wright
Wright has often defended himself from fans and pundits alike for his tendency to change darts on a whim.
When a player’s form dips, it is natural to focus on the changing variable as the cause, but the reigning European Champion has enjoyed plenty of success with various sets of darts.
He is a two-time World Champion and former World Matchplay Champion amongst other things, and did not throw with a consistent set-up throughout either of those tournament victories.
Whilst some players such as James Wade are reluctant to even change the colour of their flights, many successful players such as Phil Taylor and Gary Anderson have won countless majors with different set-ups.
It all comes down to personal preference and though some may criticise Wright’s choices, he has solidified himself as one of the greatest players ever through taking risks.
