Peter Wright and Gary Anderson are two darts players who will forever be linked.
They’re both of the same era, they’re both two-time World Champions, and they’re both World Cup winners with Scotland.
Peter Wright and Gary Anderson have had some famous battles over the years, and as both men’s careers begin to wind down, we can look back on their legacy.
Speaking to SportingLife, Paul Nicholson has been ranking some of the darting greats in their primes, and he’s placed Peter Wright just ahead of Anderson, claiming that Snakebite at his best was slightly better than The Flying Scotsman.

Peter Wright was better than Gary Anderson in his prime
Nicholson shared his verdict on the levels Wright reached in his prime.
“Look at what he’s done. He’s gone to a broadcast level that nobody ever has before,” Nicholson said.
“123.5 average, over 120 three times. That’s something Taylor and Van Gerwen have never done.
“If you want to be reminded of Wright’s greatness, go back to that semi-final against Van Gerwen, he had MVG dizzy. Peter Wright is one of the best dart player we’ve ever seen, and if you think I’m wrong about that, open your mind to the levels he has attained, what he’s won and what he’s had to go through to get there.
“It’s purely because of the fact he’s averaged over 120 three times,I have him at three, Anderson at four, but the margins are so small.”

Peter Wright’s record vs Gary Anderson
Wright and Anderson’s darting CVs are so similar.
Both are two-time World Champions, and both are eight-time overall major winners.
This is a debate that genuinely could go either way.
Perhaps the best way to compare the two is their head-to-head record.
According to Flashscore, these two have faced off on 45 occasions , and their record is so even it’s uncanny.
Wright has won 20 of these matches, Anderson has won 22 of these matches, while there have been three draws in the Premier League.
Anderson has won the last five meetings between these two as Wright’s form has dipped recently.
However, interestingly, Wright won the first seven games these two played against each other, and that was just as Anderson was hitting his prime.
Anderson is arguably in his prime at the moment, he hit his record average earlier this year and has just won another Pro Tour title.
Wright and Anderson are undoubtedly two of the best players ever, and it’s difficult to separate the two players at the peak of their powers.
