Matthew Edgar says Luke Humphries could do something that no other PDC player ever has

There are some records in darts that are unlikely to ever be broken.

Phil Taylor’s 16 world titles, Michael van Gerwen’s 19 consecutive perfect darts, Phil Taylor’s 60 game unbeaten streak. There are some feats in the game that may never be beaten.

However, with the rise of players like Luke Humphries and Luke Littler, some records in the PDC are now under threat.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Matthew Edgar has been discussing Luke Humphries’ recent World Matchplay win, and he’s tipped Cool Hand to do something no other player ever has.

Indeed, Edgar reckons that Humphries could be the first player to ever hit the £2m mark on the PDC Order of Merit.

Luke Humphries tipped to break Order of Merit record

Edgar made a prediction about the World Champion.

“He’s only defending around 10% of his prize money at the end of this year, which I’m sure he will add to. Luke Humphries could break the £2m barrier. He already has £1.6m on his order of merit. It would not surprise me to see him break that barrier,” Edgar said.

Luke Humphries could smash £2m mark

It’s remarkable when you look at how little money Luke Humphries is defending for the rest of this year.

Back in 2022, Humphries was eliminated from the World Grand Prix in the first round, so he could seriously add to his tally with a run in Leicester, while he’s only defending semi-final appearances at the Grand Slam and the Players Championship finals as well.

Of course, the World Championship is where the real money is made, and if Humphries can go all the way again at Alexandra Palace, he will smash that £2m barrier.

There’s a reason Wayne Mardle has described Humphries as ‘untouchable’ on his day.

No player has ever hit the £2m mark on the PDC Order of Merit, but Humphries could be on course to be the first player to hit that landmark.
