This year’s Premier League has been rather strange.
Luke Littler, Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen have won most of the events between them, but you’d be hard-pressed to say any of these players have been brilliant.
Of course, there have been spells of great play between them, but we’ve not seen anything close to the best performances these players can produce on a weekly basis.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ coverage of the Premier League, Wayne Mardle has been discussing the standard of the Premier League this year, and the pundit claims that only one player has been untouchable this season, and it’s not Luke Littler.

Luke Humphries has produced the best darts in the Premier League
Mardle claimed that Luke Humphries is the only player who has been untouchable, stating that he’s been head and shoulders above everyone else when he’s played his A-game.
“I really do believe that when everyone has played well in this Premier League he’s the only one who has been untouchable. He’s been head and shoulders above anyone when everyone has found their game and if he finds his game he wins. Luke Littler has found it in patches, but other than that, no one to be fair.”
Luke Humphries is the best in the world
There’s a reason Luke Humphries is the world number one and the reigning World Champion.
Simply put, Humphries is the best player on the planet when he’s on his game.
He’s barely lost a game on a TV stage in a ranking event over the past 18 months, and whenever he has lost, it’s been incredibly tight.
Of course, timing is everything in darts, and whether or not Humphries finds a way to put it all together in a few weeks time at the O2 for finals night in the Premier League is all that really matters.
