Luke Humphries finally broke his Worlds Darts Masters duck by capturing the New Zealand Darts Masters in Hamilton.
Cool Hand beat Damon Heta 8-2 in the final of the event to capture his first World Darts Masters event and continue the 29-year-old’s dominance in 2024, but it wasn’t always smooth sailing for Humphries.
After winning the New Zealand event, Luke Humphries questioned whether he’ll be appearing at the Oceanic events in 2025.

Luke Humphries might not appear Down Under in 2025
While many players claimed to struggle with their sleep patterns at the events, Humphries might not play the events in 2025 for family reasons.
Speaking to Kiwi Darts Podcast, the World Champion said: “Hopefully I can come back next year, but it’s tough because it’s in the holidays. It’s in the school holidays.
“I can say I look forward to coming back next year, but you know, to be away for two or two and a half weeks every time in the school holidays and not being with my fiance it’s hard, it really is because you know that’s family time and I want to enjoy myself and I can’t do that if I’m not with them.”
Michael van Gerwen decided to opt out of the Australian and New Zealand Darts Masters this year after the Dutchman got major dental surgery.
2024 belongs to Humphries
Despite the emergence of Luke Littler, Humphries has still managed to dominate in the major events this year.
The World No. 1 has won the World Championships and the World Matchplay, something he says he’ll never do again, as well as picking up the World Cup of Darts alongside Michael Smith.
The best player in the sport will be missed if he does miss the Oceanic leg of the Worlds Darts Masters, but it will no doubt please the rest of the tour.
