With some of the biggest stars in venues across the UK, the Premier League is one of the biggest tournaments on the PDC tour.

Luke Littler’s stunning displays in this year’s event made the event one of the most discussed yet, but some fans are unhappy with its format.

The Premier League’s latest announcement that the competition would begin in Belfast has been underwhelming for fans and they’ve taken to social media to give their judgement.

Premier League announcement underwhelms fans

Many fans took to social media to share their disappointment with the announcement.

One wrote: “This is doing the opposite of “growing the game”. Going to the exact same venues with this boring format for several years in a row…” while another simply said: “It needs a format change it’s become boring”.

Another wrote: “PDC made us wait just to tell us the Premier League is starting in Belfast. What a joke!” while one said “Another missed chance to have more PL nights outside the UK.”

Fans have not relented in their disappointment with the announcement and are certainly not happy with the Premier League’s current format.

Fans call for the old Premier League format

The format of the current Premier League is essentially a mini-tournament each week, which gives the chance for players to win an extra £10,000 for winning an individual night.

The PDC changed it so that every match mattered, but many fans preferred the league-based system that was in place pre-2022.

Despite fan grumbles, it looks as if the current system is here to stay heading into 2025.
