Luke Littler and Luke Humphries have dominated the darting headlines since the World Championship.

The pair clashed in the World final which saw Humphries end the teenager’s history-making run, whilst capping off his own incredible year in style.

Both have captured majors in 2024, with Littler beating the World Champion to lift the Premier League trophy on debut.

The rivalry between the two Lukes is set to dominate the sport for many years to come, and Wayne Mardle has given his verdict on who will be the most successful.

Mardle backs Humphries to win more World Championships

The duo both have age on their side; Humphries is 29 years old whilst Littler is still only 17.

Humphries has had a stranglehold on darts’ major trophies in the last year having lifted six in nine months, and Mardle said on X that he backs the Newbury man to add more to this tally than Littler.

When pushed for an answer of how many the teenager will win, he refused to give a number and admitted he thinks touting Michael van Gerwen for six was wrong in hindsight.

Will Luke Littler keep the hunger for success?

Many pundits such as Chris Mason, Matt Edgar and Glen Durrant have questioned whether the youngster will play competitive darts for long.

All have suggested he may be done with the sport at 30 given the success and money he’s expected to have.

In contrast, the rhetoric from Humphries has been the opposite.

The world number one told Darts Now after lifting the World Matchplay that he wanted to create a legacy in this sport over at least the next 20 years.

Phil Taylor is by far the most successful player in the sport’s history.

The hunger of the 16-time World Champion never waned and if Humphries takes the same path, he could rack up a tally only seen from the great man himself.
