Martin Schindler admits he was ‘lucky’ against Ryan Searle
The Wall admitted that Ryan Searle was the better player in the final of the Swiss event, but Schindler is playing with confidence.
Speaking to PDC TV, the German said: “I’m so happy to win this title. I always believed that I had the ability to come back but I was lucky to win this one.
“Ryan was the better player but that’s darts sometimes.”
Schindler hit a devastating 160 checkout to secure the victory against Searle and bag himself the £30,000 winners prize.
Schindler’s journey from steward to champion
To further showcase the German’s ascent to darts stardom, the 28-year-old revealed that he used to steward Euro Tour events just a decade ago.
In an interview with PDC TV, he said: “Ten years ago I was working as a steward on these events; I’ve worked very hard to get to where I am today and I’m proud of myself.
“I fancy myself to do well in the big TV events coming up, but today is just about winning this trophy; that’s all that matters to me now.”
The PDC European Tour concludes with the Czech leg in Prague between October 18-20.
