Rob Cross says he’d like to play at the World Cup of Darts with seven-time major winner

The PDC World Cup of Darts is just around the corner, and the England squad is yet to be decided.

Luke Humphries is nailed on to be picked, but with just £3,000 separating Rob Cross and Nathan Aspinall in the Order of Merit, that second spot is up for grabs.

Speaking to PDC Europe, Rob Cross has been discussing the World Cup and who his dream partner would be.

Cross, inevitably, said he’d most like to play with the current world number one, Luke Humphries, but, interestingly, of non-English players, he’s said he’d most like to play with Gerwyn Price.

Rob Cross would like to play with Gerwyn Price

Cross spoke about who he’d like to play doubles with.

“Who would you choose as your World Cup partner?” Cross was asked.

“From the PDC, I’d like Luke Humphries,” Cross said.

“And not from England?” Cross was asked.

“I’d probably go with Gezzy you know, the banter is good,” Cross said.

Cross and Price are completely different

It would be interesting to see the dynamic if Cross and Price were on the same World Cup team.

As Cross says, both players get on well backstage, but on the oche, they’re completely different characters.

Price is one of the most brash and loud players on the circuit, while Cross is perhaps the most reserved dartist in the game today – he barely even showed any emotion when he won his World Championship.

Their two contrasting styles could perhaps work well together as Price would be able to rile up opponents in decisive games, while Cross would be able to keep his cool and pin those crucial doubles.

Price and Cross are two of the best players in the world, but sadly, we’ll never get to see this pairing as Price will be representing Wales.
