Peter Wright has had a somewhat turbulent year so far although he’s showcased some strong form of late.
Snakebite showed some good form on the European Tour last week, overcoming Brendan Dolan, Martin Schindler and Stephen Bunting.
His strong run was eventually curtailed by eventual winner Dave Chisnall but he was only narrowly beaten after a decider.
Prior to that, Wright managed to win European Tour 9 and defeated the likes of Luke Littler and Michael van Gerwen on the way to glory.
In terms of the major tournaments this year, however, Wright has had a stinker, losing in the first round of the World Matchplay and the second round of the World Championship.
The Premier League was a hot topic for discussion when it came to Wright, with many people believing he shouldn’t have been included.
Wright believes his inclusion is to blame on one current player on the PDC tour.

Peter Wright shares who is to blame for Premier League decision
The two-time World Champion believes that the fault of him being asked to participate in the Premier League is down to Luke Humphries.
Cool Hand Luke was a dominant force at the end of last year and in January 2024 he collected his first World Darts Championship title.
As a result of Humphries winning a number of big titles, it meant that Wright – last year’s European Masters winner – was called up for the Premier League and that riled some people.
He told the Weekly Dartscast: “To be honest I don’t think I deserved it, but I think Luke Humphries helped me out by winning almost everything.
“I was the only other person to win a major around that time, so blame him, not me!”
Wright probably deserves more respect despite Premier League showing
It wasn’t a Premier League season to remember for Wright by any stretch. In fact, it proved abysmal and at times a little bit embarrassing.
In one of the toughest-ever Premier League fields, Wright finished rock-bottom of the group with just four points.
His eighth-place was a repeat of the year previous and unless he wins something big before the end of the year, he surely won’t be getting the call-up next year.
Wright has earned his stripes in darts though and with two world crowns on his mantlepiece, he does deserve some more respect.
Okay, he perhaps shouldn’t have been given the nod this time around but as he explains Humphries won the big ones so who else was going to get the nod?
Wright looks to be finding some form again and it will be fascinating to see if he can get some wins this weekend as the World Series of Darts Finals get underway.
