Mike De Decker’s first major victory has led many to suggest he deserves a place in 2025’s Premier League.

The Belgian produced a remarkable display to dispatch World No. 1 Luke Humphries and announce himself on the world stage.

De Decker beat Humphries 6-4 after surviving a comeback scare and the Belgian became the 11th different person to claim the crown since its inception in 1998.

After fending off questions about the Premier League, De Decker told the press what he would say if asked to join the elite tournament.

Mike De Decker would accept Premier League invitation

After fending off questions about the Premier League, De Decker told the press what he would say if asked to join the elite tournament.

The Premier League is a multi-tournament eight-person knockout consisting of the best eight players in the world.

This year saw Luke Littler claim the tournament in his debut year after being invited due to his World Championship exploits.

Many have called for De Decker to be given the same offer and the Belgian has revealed his answer. After his World Grand Prix victory, he said: “I don’t think I’m ready for the Premier League yet.

“If they put me in I’ll say yes.”

The Premier League begins on February 6 and runs until May 29 in cities such as Brighton, Sheffield, and Liverpool.

PDC have set precedent after Littler entry

De Decker’s exploits in the World Grand Prix mean he’s more than deserving of a Premier League spot and the PDC will likely come under fire if they don’t extend the invitation.

The corporation’s invitation to Littler came more from his surge in popularity than his quality, as the PDC had previously rejected Ross Smith, Andrew Gilding, and Danny Noppert after big tournament wins.

Littler brings in more than just his darting ability with his huge star power and celebrity.

His invitation to the PDC after finishing as runner-up in the World Championship has likely opened the door for many breakout stars sitting outside the top 8.
