Wayne Mardle thinks one of the Premier League semi-finalists could win at a canter next week.

The stage will be set on Thursday, with the final four set to do battle at the O2 Arena in London.

Michael van Gerwen will face Luke Humphries in the semi-final, with Luke Littler facing Michael Smith.

The two winners will then meet in the final to decide who will be the Premier League champion in 2024.

Mardle is one of the more knowledgeable pundits on Sky Sports and he thinks one man could be capable of running riot next week.

Wayne Mardle delivers Premier League verdict on Michael van Gerwen

It would seem as though Mardle doesn’t actually think that Van Gerwen has played that well in this season’s competition.

It does sound a little strange to hear that though given that he’s actually won four of the nights.

Furthermore, Van Gerwen is also a seven-time Premier League champion and he might smell blood next week.

Mardle has delivered a verdict on Mighty Mike ahead of the final night and he thinks he could be dangerous.

He told Sky Sports Darts: “Michael Van Gerwen, I hope he doesn’t mind me saying this. I don’t think he’s played particularly well in the Premier League, but he’s won four nights.

“We said it last year, he gets into the playoffs and then he runs riot, that may happen.”

Van Gerwen could win Premier League but he faces tough semi-final

Facing Humphries in the last four won’t be easy with the reigning World Champion the man firmly in form.

Van Gerwen has enjoyed a pretty steady Premier League campaign so far, without really clicking into full flight.

It’s hard to really write the three-time World Champion off at any event and on his day he’s the best there is.

Van Gerwen hasn’t necessarily played to his best at the Premier League this season but he’s still reached the last four.

Now, he’s a dangerous proposition and it’d be a brave bet to back against him getting his hands on another title next week.
