Luke Humphries explains the biggest differences between himself and Luke Littler

Luke Humphries has had one of the greatest years the sport has seen, but Luke Littler has dominated the headlines.

The teenager’s historic run to the World Championship final captivated the country and attracted a new audience to darts.

He has appeared on talk shows and podcasts and collaborated with the likes of Lando Norris, Manchester United and the England football team.

‘The Nuke’ has justified his status on the oche too, lifting seven titles since the start of the year including the Premier League trophy on debut.

Despite lifting six out of the last nine majors, Humphries hasn’t garnered the same mainstream media attention.

Luke Humphries happy to give spotlight to Luke Littler

The World Champion added to his trophy haul two weeks ago by lifting the coveted World Matchplay in Blackpool.

Humphries revealed to Online Darts that he’s not irked by the attention his namesake gets, but admitted he would be jealous if he was younger.

He said: “Luke [Littler] is obviously fantastic with his social media presence and the people he meets and all the celebrities he meets.

“If I was 18-years-old maybe I’d get a little bit jealous but I’m not, I’m nearly 30 now. These sorts of things, meeting celebrities, that’s not the top of my list anymore.

“Doing things like that doesn’t interest me but for Luke, a 17-year-old it must be absolutely amazing.”

He added: “I’m nearly 30 now, I’m a family man and my life belongs at home.

“He’s 17, go on and enjoy it but I’m just gonna stick to the darts and try and win as many trophies as I can.”

Littler attention may have aided Humphries dominance

Littler has been the most talked about player in the world since he first took to the Ally Pally stage.

Last month, reigning UK Open Champion Dimitri Van den Bergh told Darts Now that Humphries is ‘still living in Luke Littler’s shadow’.

This distraction, however, has benefitted the world number one and allowed him to focus on darts.

Being World Champion adds to an already hectic schedule with added media and events to play.

With Littler sharing that workload, it has allowed Humphries to remain fresh and continue his domineering presence in the sport.
