Luke Humphries praises World No. 56 Mickey Mansell

Ahead of his appearance at the Grand Slam of Darts, Humphries has hailed the Clonoe Cyclone as an underrated talent.

Speaking to Darts Now, the World No. 1 said: “It doesn’t really matter who you draw. There’s never an easy one. Nobody will be easy to beat. All the players can play well.

“Rowby was fantastic in the World Cup, Mickey Mansell might be one of the most underrated players on tour, and James Wade in my opinion is one of the toughest players to beat.”

Humphries is looking to retain his Grand Slam crown after winning the title in 2022 when he beat Rob Cross 16-8 in the final.

Who could be the surprise package of the Grand Slam?

Like most tournaments on the PDC calendar, Humphries enters the Wolverhampton event as favourite to snatch the title, but 2024 has been full of surprises at the Grand Slam could be the same.

One of the more intriguing aspects of the Grand Slam is the vast field of players looking to make history.

Noa-Lynn van Leuven and Beau Greaves will take to the Wolverhampton stage from the women’s tour, while Leonard Gates and Lourence Ilagan will compete in the CDC Continental Cup and the Asian Championship, respectively.

As for surprise packages, young guns Josh Rock and Cameron Menzies have every chance to upset the apple cart, while Connor Scutt will be hoping for a successful tournament after regaining his Tour Card.
