James Wade has given fans an update on his health after a difficult start to 2024.
The ten-time major champion has been a staunch campaigner for mental health since being diagnosed with ADHD and Bipolar in 2009.
Despite this, Wade has carved out a very successful career in the sport and only Michael van Gerwen and Phil Taylor have more major titles.
This year has been difficult on and off the oche for ‘The Machine’ and the world number 22 has shared why.

James Wade shares good news after health worries
Wade has seemed distracted on the oche at times this season which has affected his form.
The 41-year-old took to X, formerly Twitter to provide an update.
He said: “I’ve always been very open about talking about my Bipolar and ADHD – I think it’s important that people don’t feel alone.”
The attached article from The Mirror revealed the ambassador for Bipolar UK had been suffering from a health scare that he finally got checked out after his wife’s insistence.
He said: “It was a health reason, I thought I had something and I didn’t get checked and recently I did get checked and I’m all right, so that’s all good. But I kept it to myself, being silly like men are and I didn’t think to get checked for probably two months.
“Then I told my wife about it and then obviously, she held my hand and booked me an appointment with the specialist.”
Fortunately, Wade was given the all-clear and this issue is in the past.
Wade must rediscover form to boost ranking
The former World Matchplay Champion is in danger of missing out on the tournament for the first time since 2005.
The now-world number 22 fell out of the top 16 last year for the first time in 17 years and faces an uphill struggle to turn things around.
Now his recent health struggles are behind him, the Aldershot Ace will hope he can concentrate on putting things right.
There are two Players Championship events left before the World Matchplay cut off and securing qualification would be a real boost.
With a plethora of major ranking events in the latter half of the year, the next six months could be pivotal in the career of James Wade.
