‘I just wish’… Fallon Sherrock shares the big regret she has after being knocked out of the World Darts Championship

Fallon Sherrock has made an early exit from the World Darts Championship after losing in the first round to Ryan Meikle.

The Queen of the Palace couldn’t repeat her previous Ally Pally exploits but once again produced a valiant effort.

Sherrock took the opening set but quickly saw herself 2-1 down before taking the fourth to send the match to a decider.

It ended in heartache for the 30-year-old, however, and she follows her partner Cameron Menzies out at the first round stage.

Fallon Sherrock reacts after losing at World Darts Championship

The Milton Keynes native gave another good account of herself and it’s hard to understand why she can’t get a tour card secured.

Sherrock seems to thrive on the big occasion but perhaps Meikle was just a draw too far for the female performer.

After losing in the first round, the player took to X to send her best wishes to her opponent who will now lock horns with Luke Littler on Saturday night!

She said: “It just wasn’t to be my night in the end.

“Congratulations to Ryan, I just wish that bullseye for the big fish would have gone in!

“I will be back in 2025 and I’ll be looking for more success on the PDC women’s series, and to make the Grand Slam and World Championship again.”

Sherrock must bottle stage form to earn PDC tour card

It’s so bizarre that Sherrock is seemingly brilliant when it comes to playing on the stage but just can’t do it on the floor.

Although she lost again at the Ally Pally last night, there is enough to suggest that if she got this level of competition more often, she’d compete.

Now, the challenge comes at Q-School where Sherrock will aim to get herself on the main tour by winning a two-year card.

She can once again take a lot of heart from this defeat and it will be fascinating to see if she can finally get over the line and get involved in the other tournaments that are played across the year.
