Gary Anderson has heaped praise on Luke Humphries and Luke Littler but has suggested there are up-and-coming players on the tour who could make life difficult for the two stars.

Ever since the final of the 2023 World Championship, Luke Littler and Luke Humphries have stood out as the present and future of the sport.

Humphries has bagged the World Championship, and the World Matchplay, while The Nuke has bagged the World Series Finals and the Premier League.

Despite their impressive years, Gary Anderson has named three stars he believes could stop their dominance.

Gary Anderson tips Ryan Joyce, Mike De Decker, and Ritchie Edhouse for success

With all the eyes on Littler and Humphries, there have been some surprise winners of major tournaments in 2024.

Ritchie Edhouse and Mike De Decker won the European Championship and World Grand Prix, respectively, and Anderson expects those two and Ryan Joyce to upset the apple cart on the PDC Tour.

Speaking to Online Darts, Anderson said: “I’ve been fortunate in this world to stand on stages with Phil Taylor, Michael van Gerwen, Luke Humphries, who knows who the next one is going to be.

“Money is on Luke Littler. But the amount of players who are coming through, I think it’s going to be a hard few years for these boys.

“Ryan Joyce, Mike De Decker, Ritchie Edhouse, he was fantastic in the Europeans. There’s so many more. Luke is special but there’s a lot of these boys not far off him.”

Anderson has already qualified for the Grand Slam knockout stages with wins over van Gerwen and Joyce.

Anderson makes bold ‘gifted’ claim

In the same interview, Anderson made an outlandish claim about his talents on the PDC Tour. Asked if he was the most gifted, the Scottish thrower said: “I’m going to say yes.

“Because I tell you I don’t practice. Nobody believes me. Stick a camera on me and follow me about for a year and we’ll see.

“I’ve played darts for 30-odd years, if you don’t know where the treble 20 is by now, take up another hobby!”

Anderson plays Noa-Lynn van Leuven in his final Grand Slam of Darts group stage match.
