Darts legend Paul Lim produced one of the darting stories of the year with his Lakeside victories over Moreno Blom and Kai Fan Leung.

The 70-year-old won in straight sets as he rolled back the years with an average of over 90 as he appeared at Lakeside for the first time since 1994.

He followed that up with a narrow 3-2 victory over Fan Leung in the second round as he looks to become the oldest winner in Lakeside history.

Lim has competed all over the world across the PDC, BDO, and WDF and even hit the first-ever 9-darter at Lakeside in 1990.

Fans were thrilled for the 70-year-old after his victory in the tournament, which could be his last.

On X, one fan wrote: “Brilliant to see Paul Lim return to the Lakeside stage after 30 years, age 70 and posting a 90.2 average!”

Lim will play either Dennis Nilsson or Gary Stone in the third round of the WDF World Darts Championship.

Paul Lim set to step away from darts after World Championship

No matter how he gets on at Lakeside, Lim has suggested this will be his last-ever World Darts Championship.

The Singapore Slinger said: “I’m honoured to be here because I feel this is the last time that I play in a tournament like this.

“I’m going to be 71 soon. I will still be involved in darts but I’ll do a lot more with the youth in Asia. I believe the future of darts is in the youth.”

Lim’s previous best performance in the World Championship was a quarter-final appearance in 1990.
