Devon Petersen names Gerwyn Price and Gary Anderson as toughest opponents
Petersen named Gary Anderson and Gerwyn Price as his toughest opponents, both for differing reasons.
Talking to Aaron Nijjar, The African Warrior said: “Gary Anderson has an unfaltering, nonchalant grace on stage.
“With him, you never feel threatened, which ironically makes him tougher because you lose that burning sensation to beat him. Mentally, he’s the toughest opponent.
“When I was coming off the tour in 2020, Gerwyn was very solid. He brings a level of aggression and energy to the oche that you can’t ignore.
“He’s always on his game, and ability-wise, you need to be really good to beat him. He’s box office.”
Anderson has beaten Petersen in each of their five meetings, while Price has defeated the South African in seven of their 10 meetings.
Petersen on the comeback
Despite losing his tour card, Petersen has not retired from professional darts.
The South African is aiming to qualify for this year’s World Championships, which will please fans as he proved to be a fans’ favourite during his time at the oche.
On his day, The African Warrior can give anyone a game so he’s certainly one to look out for come December.
