Dave Chisnall reveals what position he’d play in Gareth Southgate’s England team at the Euros

England laboured to an uninspiring 1-0 victory to kickstart their Euro’s campaign against Serbia on Sunday.

Their performance was lacklustre despite a squad littered with star power.

Though the likes of Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice command the midfield for England, Dave Chisnall has suggested Gareth Southgate calls him up to the team to propel the ‘Three Lions’ to success.

Chisnall wants to pull the strings in midfield

The midfield in an elite team needs a mastermind and they don’t call ‘Chizzy’ ‘The Professor’ for nothing.

Taking to X, the St Helens superstar responded to a fan’s makeshift dart player line-up that paired him with Rob Cross in front of the back four.

“Me and Bobby Cross would do a proper job in the middle of the park. No nonsense.”

Chisnall had predicted England to cruise to a 4-0 victory in their Euro’s opener so perhaps the midfield duo of ‘Voltage’ and ‘Chizzy’ is the missing piece for the 2020 Euro runner-up.

Chisnall could replace under pressure Southgate

The lifelong Liverpool fan could emulate former Reds captain Steven Gerrard in the middle of the park, but his real value would be in the dugout.

Southgate’s tenure has been under scrutiny and the winner of 23 PDC titles could bring that winner’s mentality to a fledgling England squad.

If it’s not to be for the ‘Three Lions’ in Germany this year, darts fans will hope the duo of Luke Humphries and Michael Smith can bring it home instead.

The pair head to Frankfurt at the end of June in a bid to capture England’s first World Cup of Darts since 2016.

‘Chizzy’ himself has twice made the semi-finals but with the World Champion making his debut in an England shirt, the four-time champions will head in as tournament favourites.
