Dave Chisnall has revealed he’s suffering from an injury ahead of the Players Championship events this week.

The Pro Tour returns after the PDC visited Oceania and ‘Chizzy’ hopes to land his third title of the year.

Some huge names are set to miss the events such as Luke Humphries, Luke Littler and Gary Anderson, which will boost the rest of the field.

Chisnall, however, has opened up on a back injury he suffered and gave fans an update after appealing for advice.

Dave Chisnall vows to battle through injury

Whilst writing his diary for Kwiff, Chisnall revealed an injury he suffered while gardening.

He said: “I’m struggling with my back, and hoping it holds up ahead of next week’s Pro Tour events in Milton Keynes.

“I was doing some gardening and mowing the lawn in the week and can still feel it twinge – which isn’t a good sign – and I don’t like taking tablets or anything so it’s just a case of grin and bear it and hope it sorts itself out.”

He added: “I’ve been doing a bit of practice, and the pain comes and goes, so hoping I can get through both Players’ Championship events.”

The 43-year-old was thankful for the advice from fans on X to help him combat the pain

Field wide open as World Grand Prix race heats up

With six weeks to go before the World Grand Prix, every Pro Tour event is pivotal.

Chisnall has already guaranteed his place in Leicester but others such as James Wade and Dirk van Duijvenbode need results.

With a host of big names absent, it presents a huge opportunity for those in desperate needs of ranking money.

One big name who will be in action though is Michael van Gerwen.

‘Mighty Mike’ astonishingly hasn’t won a ranking title in over a year and will be looking to put that to bed ahead of the business end of the year.

Gerwyn Price heads into Milton Keynes as the favourite who has opted to play in the two events despite playing on the World Series in Australia and New Zealand.
