This time last week, Luke Littler will probably have been dreaming about winning the World Matchplay
The Nuke headed to Blackpool as one of the favourites to win the tournament after dominating the Premier League and reaching the World Championship final.
However, it’s fair to say that Littler’s run at the Winter Gardens didn’t go to plan.
The teenage sensation was beaten by Michael van Gerwen in the very first round, and the 17-year-old had to find a way to fill his time for the rest of the week.
Luckily, Littler did find a way to fill his time.

Luke Littler wins the Chesire Open
After being eliminated from the World Matchplay, Littler entered an amateur tournament closer to home.
Indeed, The Nuke played in the Cheshire Open this weekend, and, as you may imagine, the World Championship runner-up blew away the rest of the crowd.
We’ve seen professional players turn up at these amateur competitions countless times over the years. Simon Whitlock has, notably, played in all sorts of tournaments at varying levels, and Littler seems to have that same competitive drive.
Of course, playing in local competitions when you’re the most famous darts player on the planet is comedic in a lot of ways, and Chris Dobey was quick to make a joke about Littler on his Facebook post about his win.
Chris Dobey jokes with Luke Littler
Dobey was quick to make a jibe at Littler, asking the teenager if he’s already run out of money.
Littler won £1000 for winning his local tournament, and he joked back to Dobey that his winnings were paid cash in hand.

Of course, Littler doesn’t need the money. He’s already scooped almost £315,000 in prize money this year, and that tally is only set to grow in the coming months.
Luke Littler’s form has been poor lately, and the Warrington-born star probably needed a bit of a confidence boost, and while the Cheshire Open isn’t quite the World Matchplay, at least Littler is back to winning ways.
