‘They’re not perfect’… Beau Greaves reveals her World Championship decision after PDC snub last year

Beau Greaves has decided which World Championship she will play in this year after turning down Alexandra Palace last year.

Greaves qualified for the PDC World Championship via the Women’s Series order of merit where she was ranked number one.

After the WDF moved their showpiece event to take place before the PDC’s, she was forced to choose between the two.

“Beau ‘n’ Arrow” opted to return to Lakeside to defend her maiden WDF World Championship title, successfully completing the double.

The 20-year-old currently sits atop of the Women’s Series order of merit once again and has now confirmed which tournament she will participate in.

Beau Greaves eyes third World Championship

Greaves competed in the PDC World Championship in 2022 where she lost in the first round to Willie O’Connor.

Speaking to Online Darts, she confirmed there will be no return to the Palace this year as she aims for a hat-trick of World Championships.

She said: “I will go Lakeside [to the WDF World Championship].

“It’s a really tough decision to make when you think of the opportunities and stuff but being back-to-back defending champion is a hard one to knock on the head.”

Greaves added: “I’m quite content with the WDF. I think they’re not perfect, but nobody is, and I would hate to miss it and think I could’ve got three in a row.

“I’m sure eventually I will make it back to Ally Pally and try and win a game.”

Greaves already the best ever

The ladies’ game has seen some top players throughout the years.

Deta Hedman has hoovered up more titles than Phil Taylor in her illustrious career and Trina Gulliver has lifted the World Championship an astonishing ten times.

Greaves, however, has elevated the game to another level.

Fallon Sherrock propelled the game into the spotlight with her World Championship heroics in 2020, but Greaves’ dominance has been relentless.

Her A-game can compete with the best players in the world – man or woman – and if the Doncaster native can find greater consistency as she ages, the sky is the limit for the two-time World Champion.
