Does anybody still have any superlatives left to describe the darting sensation, Luke Littler? After this season’s Premier League exploits they’re quickly running out.

Last night he ensured that he would finish in the top spot of the Premier League during his maiden year in the competition.

Littler didn’t quite manage to win in Sheffield – he was beaten by Michael Smith in the semi-final – but he still managed to catch the eye.

The player did something quite remarkable in his quarter-final match against Peter Wright – earning praise from a Premier League footballer in the process.

Aston Villa star Matty Cash raves about Luke Littler

The 17-year-old is doing unbelievable things at the moment and the world really is his oyster.

He was perhaps a shock inclusion in the Premier League this season given that he lost in the World Darts Championship Final to Luke Humphries.

However, the PDC felt they couldn’t overlook him and now their decision has been more than justified.

He has topped the group with 40 points and will play Michael Smith in next week’s semi-finals. Humphries will play Michael van Gerwen in the other.

During Littler’s opening match in Sheffield, he caught the eye with a somewhat unorthodox checkout when needed 120 for the leg.

He opted to pin three at tops to take the leg and leave fans – and Matty Cash in absolute astonishment!

Cash posted the words, ‘My days’, with a number of emojis to his Instagram story after the amazing checkout.

Littler can now claim Premier League title

It’s quite amazing that someone has topped the Premier League despite being just 17-years-old.

However, the hard work starts now, with Littler set to take on Smith over the best of 19 legs next weekend.

Van Gerwen is a serial winner of this tournament and he has proved a bit of an immovable object in recent years.

If anyone can topple Mighty Mike, however, it’s the new kid on the block.

His three at tops to win a leg against Wright was cheeky to say the least and not many top players would attempt it outside of an exhibition.

Littler was in fine form last night but now he will hope to claim his first big TV title and get over the line in the Premier League.
