It’s been over a year since two-time former World Championship winner Adrian Lewis competed in the professional game.
The 39-year-old took an extended break after the 2023 World Darts Championship, where he was knocked out in the second round for the third successive year.
After a long stretch of time out of action, Jackpot is set to make his return to the game by competing in the MODUS Super Series in 2025.
Adrian Lewis shares his thoughts on Luke Littler
Lewis appeared on Wayne Mardle’s Club 501 podcast to talk about his return and spoke about teenage sensation Luke Littler.
Jackpot remarked on the biggest difference between Littler’s debut year compared to his. Both players burst onto the darts scene as teenagers, but Lewis believes the difference in maturity between the two is tremendous.
The 2014 UK Open champion said: “I’m more daft to be honest. Let’s put things right. I was more daft and immature. He seems more mellowed. For such a young age I think he’s incredible.”
Luke Littler’s incredible breakout year.
Littler famously arrived on the darts scene in style, when finishing as runner-up to Luke Humphries at the 2024 World Championships at the age of 16.
Since then, The Nuke has become the youngest player to win a major PDC tournament after winning the Premier League, as well as picking up six other trophies in 2024 including a recent Players Championship event.
It’s been incredible to see Littler playing in this way and the past 12 months may go down as the most impressive ‘rookie’ year in darts, even if Littler had a spell of poor form last month.
Of course, Rob Cross did win the World Championship in his first year, but given their respective ages, you could argue that Littler’s feats have been even more impressive.
Littler may be the greatest darts prodigy we have seen since Adrian Lewis himself broke onto the scene.
