Chris Dobey has been a household name on the PDC circuit since obtaining his Tour Card in 2015 and he’s set for his second outing in the Premier League Darts.

After a year’s absence, Chris Dobey returns to the PDC touring event for the first time in 2023 as arguably the biggest outsider of the pack.

Known for his big scoring, he’s capable of giving any player in the PDC a good game and will be looking to test himself on the biggest stage.

Why is Chris Dobey’s nickname Hollywood?

Dobey revealed in a TikTok his Hollywood nickname came from a comment his friend made about what he would wear while playing darts.

Speaking to PDC Europe, Dobey said: “It was just something that started with a friend. I just came in short and flip-flops and playing Super League at home.

“The name Hollywood has just stuck ever since everywhere I went. It’s something I didn’t want at the start but it was different in the end so I just stuck with it.”

Dobey has used the ‘Hollywood’ nickname since his PDC debut in 2015.

Dobey currently sits at World No. 11 in the PDC Order of Merit after an impressive showing at the 2025 World Darts Championship.

In the social media post, Hollywood revealed: “Dec loves my walk-on.”

Chris Dobey’s sole PDC TV tournament win

The 34-year-old pulled off his first and only television tournament win at the PDC Masters in Milton Keynes in 2023.

Dobey defeated Rob Cross, Michael Smith, Dirk van Duijvenbode, Luke Humphries, and defending champion Joe Cullen to capture the tournament and the £65,000 prize money.

How much prize money has Chris Dobey won in his PDC career?

According to the Professional Darts Player Association, Dobey has collected £1,359,500 in prize money since making his debut TV appearance at the UK Open in 2015.

Dobey most recently picked up £100,000 for his semi-final appearance at the 2025 World Darts Championship, which saw him lose 6-1 to Michael van Gerwen in the final four.
