Pundit says there’s something ‘so weird’ about Gary Anderson at the moment after amazing Pro Tour performance

Gary Anderson crashed out in the quarter-finals on the Pro Tour on Wednesday, but he was arguably the best player in the field once again in Milton Keynes.

Anderson smashed in a record average of over 123 against Andrew Gilding on the day, and while Wessel Nijman dumped him out in the quarter-finals, Anderson can take so many positives from his performances on the Pro Tour.

These sorts of showings have become par for the course for The Flying Scotsman on the floor in recent times, but, unfortunately, that hasn’t translated to TV success.

Anderson hasn’t reached a major final in three years now, despite being, based on the numbers, the best player on the tour over the past 12 months.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Matthew Edgar has been discussing Anderson’s recent showings, and he says that Anderson’s lack of results on the big stage is very strange.

Matthew Edgar baffled by Gary Anderson’s TV form

Edger spoke about Anderson’s recent performances and how they have differed on the floor and on the stage.

“Gary Anderson, that 100+ average seems to be the way he lands in the Pro Tours. It’s so weird the way he plays so well on the Pro Tours, but when it comes to winning on the TV, it’s not converting across,” Edgar said.

“Over the last 12 months based on averages alone, Gary Anderson is the best player in the world, so why isn’t he winning on TV? Surely there’s a TV Title coming soon for Gary Anderson.”

Gary Anderson looks ready to win again

It’s been a long time since Gary Anderson won a TV major, but it surely won’t be long before he’s back in the winners’ enclosure now.

Anderson is arguably playing the best darts of his life at the moment, and while his TV form has been shaky as of late, this isn’t a man who doesn’t know how to win under pressure.

Anderson is a two-time World Champion for a reason. He knows how to produce in the big moments, and if he just gets a bit more luck on his side, he will be picking up trophies again in no time at all.

The 53-year-old still has a number of chapters to write in his storied career.
