James Wade seems to be returning to something close to his best form at the moment.
The Machine made the semi-finals of the World Matchplay last month after a poor start to 2024, and now, he’s looking to kick on.
The 41-year-old upset the odds in Blackpool after Wade barely qualified for the Matchplay.
Wade is back in action this week on the Pro Tour in Milton Keynes, and on Wednesday he came up short in his pursuit of victory and the £10,000 in ranking money that comes with it.
Cameron Menzies just edged Wade on Wednesday in a 6-5 win, and the Scot averaged 106 in the process.
Wade has now taken to social media to react to his defeat, claiming that Menzies’ performance on the day was inspired and that he seemed to go out in 10 legs every time.

James Wade praises Cameron Menzies
Wade spoke highly of Menzies in a post on X.
The former Premier League champion noted that Menzies played out of his skin in the Pro Tour.
Menzies would eventually lose in the semi-finals to the man that ultimately won the event, Damon Heta.
Cameron Menzies is about to kick on
Cameron Menzies was fantastic against James Wade on Wednesday, and it feels as though there is something special brewing for the Scot.
Menzies has been one of the most in-form PDC players so far in 2024, and he could be on course to achieve something special in a big TV event.
Menzies is currently on track to qualify for the Grand Prix, while there’s still time for Cammy to make it to the Grand Slam.
The 35-year-old is playing the best darts of his career at the moment, and that first big run in a TV major can’t be too far away.
Menzies is certainly a player to keep an eye on as we enter the pivotal part of the year and majors begin to come thick and fast.
